Why do People Travel to Perth?
There are two main reasons for travelling to Perth, one is to work there for it is the centre of a booming natural mineral resources industry and the second is to holiday. Perth is a fascinating city with a culture all of its own and travellers come to participate in the laid back, outdoor lifestyle that’s typical of the city and the region. The beaches are fabulous and the weather perfect.
What is Perth Airport Like?
It’s a huge airport spread out over two sites, either side of the runway. To get from the international terminal on one side of the airport to the domestic terminal involves a bus transfer of seven miles so if you’re flying there to take an international flight, make allowances for the transfer time. The airport has been criticised for overcrowding and poor facilities with the overcrowding problem likely to worsen as passenger numbers increase further.
There are plans in place to completely revamp the airport but completion is over a decade away. A new terminal called Terminal WA has recently been completed to ease the congestion of domestic flights and opened a year ago. The terminals have airbridges, but not for every gate so some smaller flights still have to embark and disembark across the apron. In the domestic terminal there is only a single shop but a variety of places to eat.
Perth Airport is Australia’s 4th busiest airport by passenger movements with only
Sydney Airport,
Melbourne and
Brisbane handling more passengers.
